Book Review - The Girl With All the Gifts by MR Carey

MR Carey has taken an interesting slant on the zombie genre in this book.  The story is exciting, fast paced, and remains true to post-apocalyptic and zombie genre expectations but adds nice bits of emotional resonance.

One feature I enjoyed is that the author went in depth into a fungal origin background for this zombie plague, something I've always thought would make the most plausible source of a zombie-like outbreak.

There are plenty of good twists and turns along the way, and a satisfying, not-too-predictable, ending.

It is written in present tense, which might put some people off, so consider this fair warning. Personally, I found the use of present tense added to the feel of urgency and excitement.

This book will appeal to readers who like:
Zombie stories
Action/Adventure
Twists and surprises
A fast pace

You will hate if you:

Hate use of present tense
