Do you like first person POV?
I do.
Nothing gets you right in the thick of the story like seeing
things from the protagonist's perspective. You understand their motivations and
feels all the setbacks and surprises with them.
It's particularly effective with an anti-hero or downright
villainous protagonist like Jorg Ancrath in Mark Lawrence's Thorns series.
Being forced into the shoes of someone you are ambivalent about is a good way
to ratchet up the tension.
But then there are people who absolutely hate the first person.
Can't stand it. Think any an author who uses it must be an insufferable twit.
I've never heard them give a more detailed explanation, other than it doesn't
jive with them.
What's your point of view?
