#3 Tanis Half-Eleven
Tanis was the quintessential ranger archetype of my youth, on
which I based dozens of characters in every RPG and MMORPG I played. He is the
glue that holds the original Dragonlance trilogy together, the courageous
leader at the center of the large band of widely different personalities. He's
not perfect, and his foibles make him all the more relatable. His romantic
subplots are complicated without falling into melodrama. And in the end, with a
little help from Raistlin, he saves the day.
